Still Forcing Extractions? Your Prep Might Be the Problem

You know the extraction I mean. You’ve cleansed the skin, you can see the congestion, but it isn’t moving. You try another angle. A little more pressure. Then you look up and realise you’ve spent far too long on one pore.
That’s usually the point where I ask myself whether I prepared the skin properly in the first place.
The prep stage is where I do the work that makes an extraction possible. I want to soften what I’m working on, see how the skin responds and give myself the best chance of clearing congestion without repeatedly pressing at the same area. If it still won’t release, I leave it. More force isn’t a technique.
This is why Prep + Purify and the Dermal Code Ionic have become my go-to pairing for congested skin. Prep + Purify is the desincrustation gel I use to help soften and loosen buildup. I then use the Ionic in its Clean Mode as part of the deep cleansing process, working across the areas that need attention before I decide what, if anything, needs a manual extraction.
It changes the order of the facial in a way that makes sense to me. I’m not relying on my fingers to do all the work at the end. I’ve spent time preparing and cleansing the area first, and I can be much more selective about the extractions I perform.
I also don’t assume every visible pore needs emptying. The nose is a good example: sebaceous filaments can look like blackheads at a glance, but they’re a normal part of how the skin functions and their contents will return. Trying to make every pore look empty is how an otherwise good facial turns into an overworked one.
